Original Porsche 550 Spyder Wheels
Here is a set of genuine KPZ 550 Spyder wheels, 16x3.5, part number S540A. No cracks, wheels spin straight, ring like a bell.
From 1954 to 1956 Porsche’s production aluminum-bodied 550 Spyders were equipped with slotted 16×3.5-inch lightweight wheels. These wheels have a steel center and an aluminum barrel, riveted together. The 1956-1958 550A Spyders were originally fitted with the same wheels or could be fit with a steel/alloy wheel in 15×4, 15×4.5, or 15×5-inch sizes.
Two wheels are date stamped 1955, one is date stamped Jan 1958, one is date stamped Aug 1957.
The 1955 wheels have holes in the lip where the original European wheel weights would have been drilled in. The original Made In Germany Dunlop bands are present on both '55 wheels. The '57 and '58 wheels have a no name band in place.
